Emergency Funding Plan (October 2026)

In October 2026, CTP faced a ~2-month runway gap: ~$50,000/month burn, with DOR income and fundraising falling short. The California Department of Rehabilitation waitlisted all new applicants — however, DOR's enrolled clients still need service, so referrals continue at a declining level that will not be sustainable. This plan separates what can land cash within 8 weeks from longer-term pipeline grants.

The bottom line

No grant filed today pays out within 8 weeks — every verified grant runs a 3–6+ month decision cycle. The 2-month gap must be covered by fundraising and bridge credit. Grants filed now are January–March 2027 money: the bridge after the bridge.

What can land cash in 8 weeks

  1. Emergency bridge appeal to donors, alumni, and board ($10k–$50k+, days–4 weeks). 71% of staff are program graduates — built-in storytellers. Name the gap honestly; tie gifts to outcomes.
  2. Giving Tuesday (December 1, 2026) + year-end campaign ($15k–$60k+, 4–8 weeks). Secure a matching donor now; warm-up email early November; texting sequence starts ~Oct 19; Dec 29–31 final push.
  3. Community Vision Capital & Consulting line of credit (Oakland CDFI) — 2–6 weeks; fastest institutional cash, but it is debt. Inquire immediately.
  4. NDEAM corporate sponsorships (October = National Disability Employment Awareness Month) — $2.5k–$25k each, 2–8 weeks; pitch Bay Area tech employers; enroll in Benevity/YourCause for matching gifts.

  • Oct 19, 2026 (approx) — Giving Tuesday texting sequence begins
  • Nov 1, 2026 — Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation national grant deadline
  • Dec 1, 2026 — Giving Tuesday
  • Dec 15, 2026 — Sundt Foundation deadline (small dollars, weak fit)

Do not pursue

  • AARP Foundation CA RFA (pre-app passed Sept 1)
  • Zendesk Tech for Good Impact Awards (closed July 15, 2026 — watch 2027)
  • Borealis Disability Inclusion Fund (closed May 20; excludes direct-service orgs)
  • Bank of America 2026 RFPs (closed; next 2027)
  • SF Foundation Rapid Response Fund (explicitly does not cover budget shortfalls)

Open questions for the board

  • Y&H Soda Foundation application mechanics and typical award sizes — verify before quoting numbers
  • Kessler Foundation 2026 cycle: confirm California eligibility
  • Did CTP file the AARP pre-application? If yes, the mid-October full application is still live
  • Community Vision line of credit — who inquires this week?
